How is that possible? To get steel you need to use an expert or superior salvage kit. However, this sword has mods on it, so wouldn't either the furious mod or health mod be salvaged instead?

No. With expert/sup, you have a chance of mod/rare/normal mat.

And thus the flaw of the salvage system has been revealed.

I can't wait for the new salvage options. Got a bunch of crappy weapons with good mods saved just for this.

Hmm, and everytime I've tried to salvage materials with one, I always get the mod. Figured it wasn't actually possible after a while.

It wasn't a scam, it was a false auction. Nobody lost anything.
